Space creation
Einstein said that space has no existence without the existence of a ”field”. Let’s look at a hypothetical situation where there was no such thing as space (“no- space”), just a massive object generating radiation through vigorous vibrations of the molecules near the surface. Let’s extend this dream and consider the double hypothetical case of only one oscillation occurring and only one wave being released. Even if gravitation was not holding our wave, it could not and would not propagate. There is nothing to propagate through!!!!!! WOW, this is not what we were taught. We were taught that light can propagate through a “vacuum”. Well, this depends what the vacuum is vacant of! I contend that if there were not an electromagnetic fabric which IS space the photon could not propagate. We have a problem here. How can we prove such a statement? Due to black body radiation it is impossible to create an area devoid of electromagnetic radiation. If we could attain -273 degrees Kelvin in some electromagnetic shielded container it could be possible but various constraints including detection apparatus render this virtually unobtainable.
Let’s assume for the time being that an electromagnetic wave cannot propagate through an electromagnetic vacuum. When there is “no space” for an emitted wave to propagate through the second oscillation would in a sense “proagate along the first wave, reach the end and reflect back creating a standing wave IN THE SAME PLANE as the first wave. This standing wave gives the energy ligitimacy to persist spatially and this can be seen as the first small step to creating space. This standing wave’s inertial nature (not propagating) and harmonic stability diffentiates it from the more familiar propagating electromagnetic waves but also provides the electromagnetic platform or fabric for subsequent waves to propagate through. When the next waves have propagated through this standing wave by they will also meet up with “no space”, reflect and create a new standing wave. These standing waves will build upon and support one another as long as it is necessary to create a bridge called space for the subsequent emissions. This space creation mechanism will build a fabric for space wherever “no space” is encountered. It is essential to grasp that these standing electromagnetic waves ARE space…not travelling through space.
The second mechanism of space creation lies in the fact that these standing waves are wavelength stunted due to gravity and the tendency or force to expand as they are slowly released from gravity is the basis for inflation which will be discussed in the next section. Creation is perhaps not as accurate a discription as expansion of space that has already been created. But more of this later.
It thus comes to pass that unless this “NO SPACE” is populated with an electromagnetic fabric no electromagnetic wave can propagate. This initially sounds like a chicken or egg situation, but the extended significance of this statement will be seen as the energy cycle unfolds, but for now we must deduct that the constant creation of new space is perpetually maintaining space. Remember that once space has been populated and created by gazillions of standing electromagnetic waves the resulting fabric is by no means a “vacuum” through which light is propagated at 300 000 km per second as we were taught. This fabric is an electromagnetic medium through which electromagnetic waves are being propagated, the density of which is “warped” around massive objects. This article addresses this warped space in an innocent way, without the pretence of mathematical deduction and preconceived knowledge.
Energy is all there is. It exists in essence as an electromagnetic wave. We have discussed the characteristics of these waves and I would like to present the fundamental concept that these electromagnetic waves ARE space. This is the fundamental hypothesis of this article and as you will discover, the logic of the various transformations between the stages of the energy cycle will support this assumption. The most fundamental aspect of this hypothesis is the contention that wavelength is the measure of distance in space while frequency and amplitude are measures of intensity and thus energy density of space. (We will come back to the concpt of time much later).
This is so important to this article that I am going to restate the obvious. Let’s say there were 10 waves that have pushed into the “no space” to create space. These ten waves have already created space albeit a small piece of space. The next emitted wave uses true propagation from the source along our newly created space pathway to reach the “no space” interface. What happens when the propagated wave reaches the first wave? I would expect that the propagated wave’s energy could either form new space by combining to form a standing wave or it could be added to the amplitude of the inflating wave which would merely add to the inflationary pressure and increase the speed of inflation. There is no difference between the nature of these waves, but if there is nothing to propagate into then the wave has to feed back upon itself to create a standing wave. The interesting thing about this standing wave is that it is half way to constituting mass. Remember our criteria for mass? Mass is a standing wave with inertia, three dimensional form and thus “visibility”. Well these space fabric waves are standing waves with inertia but they fall short on the three dimensional and thus visibility aspect. More of this later.
This standing wave fabric IS space.
This sounds crazy but let me give you an analogy. If a drop of water from a pipe were to fall in an empty dam no wave could propagate through the water because there is no water in the empty dam. If however another drop falls next to the first one it will ripple over the first drop and extend the water forward. The next drop will ripple over both prior drops forward until the whole dam is full. Once the dam is full the falling drops will sustain the dam (from evaporation or leaking) and PROPAGATION of waves through the water as medium are the order of the day. Water is thus the source of the dam as well as the medium through which the wave propagates. Remember that the propagating waves conform to and help to create the fabric of space. A sneak preview comment here is that space gets absorbed and destroyed constantly just like the analogy of leaking and evaporation of the dam … see under gravitation and later magnetism. It is therefore essential that space gets created continuously.
The obvious question arises. If space consists of electromagnetic waves, why do we not observe them by various measurement methods. I would like to guess that there could be a few reasons. The first is that we can and do but don’t realise that it is the fabric of space that we are dealing with. Something like Cosmic Microwave Background radiation that was discovered by mistake shows how we could be missing the obvious. In this case we were not scanning the correct frequencies for CMB. Once we have discussed primordial synthesis and related this to Cold Dark Matter surrounding the galaxy it will become more obvious that these cold primordial particles emit microwaves that are precisely the low energy waves we need to generate the necessary momentum that generates the inertia we experience as gravity. Higher frequency EM waves like Gamma and X rays are generated from the centre of the galaxy and pass through much of matter without imparting their energy to the matter. I would like to guess that these Cosmic Background Waves constitute the bulk of space.
We know that space warps around large masses and things like gravitational lensing is indicative proof of this, but still we moan about not being able to detect the fabric of space! We can observe the results of its density differences … why not it’s existence. We even assign a permeability, a permissivity, a warp and even a “frame drag” or inertia factor. Are these characteristics not proof that space is “something” and NOT “nothing”. Anyway, sometime some bright guy will come to the party in this regard. As you will see after having read this article, this basic acceptance simplifies our understanding of virtually all physical phenomena and the Law of Parsimony prevails. Simplicity itself is great justification for acceptance. These waves and the gazillions like them, inflating or propagating ARE space. Yes, space is a seething multitude of electromagnetic waves, each one contributing to the formation of space along its line of propagation. There is no necessity for an “ether” for the wave to go through. It is interesting to note that although the electromagnetic wave is a combination of two waves each in its own dimension, the common direction of propagation is the one in which space is being formed by the extending wavelength. This is only a single direction but may be at any angle within a 3 dimensional co-ordinate system. Hey, let’s put one and one together… if the wave is space and the wave is the source of inflation, then inflation is a pent up state of space bursting to extend itself in the direction of propagation of the wave in the direction away from the massive object.
This increased density around massive objects is a well known fact and forms the basis of Einstein’s curvature of space.
When I say that space is being created there are a few other concepts that are being born at the same time.
DISTANCE. The extension of the wavelength is basically a manifestation of energy and distance is the measure of wavelength. When discussing a cycle it is difficult to say what comes first but if we cut into the cycle at this stage pretending that nothing has been defined before this point, then here is the time to introduce distance. Hey while we’re at creating concepts. How about this one?
TIME. As soon as distance emerges there must be two points in space. Because simultaneity is relative, occurrences happen at different times… oops there I said the T-word. Yes time becomes an essential element of this energy world. We will discuss time at length later … prepare to be shocked by this concept as well!
If distance and time have been created then the only thing that could have created them is energy! At the risk of bringing contention into the discussion too early, I would like to suggest that the very wave that represents distance in three dimensional space is responsible for the concept of time. As soon as distance becomes an issue in our perception, simultaneity questions follow. Enough to say at this stage that both distance and time are an innate feature of the wave form. As is well known simultaneity is an important part of relativity and I will discuss this aspect in the last chapter. Time is born when space is born and space is born continuously as we shall see shortly.
